The dreadful thing about debt related stress, losing your job, increasing anxiety and pressure that comes with mounting credit card and loan debts is the trapped feeling like you are in a corner and the apparent feeling there is no way out.The anxiety increases with the phone calls from the loan and credit card companies, the pressure makes you snap at your spouse and the kids and so it goes on.

Financial debt stress rates amongst the top reasons for divorce and its the ripple effect like a snowball that you just can’t stop once the resentments set in cause much heartache so dont waste time getting help if you are in this situation.Where possible get some financial counselling and organise an appointment with any of the debt consolidation companies as soon as possible [I discuss more about this later later.]

I have much sympathy and can empathise with anybody suffering debt stress having got my Credit card debts to around $53,000 as the outcome of child support payments and legal costs of the divorce and the ease of being able to get  credit cards online. My first mistake.
My second mistake, not getting a good capped mobile phone plan and having excessive mobile phone bills being locked into a plan.

It is so easy to be overwhelmed by the daily pressures to work and grab the overtime, be so tired and stressed and collapse in a heap in the easy chair and not address the things that need attention like being aware of due dates of the credit payments, the electricty and gas bill and then cop the late fees on top and by this you add to your problem.

Dear reader, if you are the one going through the financial crisis,from my own experience of the school of hard knocks ,this my advice to you because it worked for me.

1.To get yourself a good counsellor who can assist you to de-stress and put your situation in perspective. Concentrate on what you do have not what you have lost.

2. Treat yourself to a massage or a pleasure activity if you can manage it occasionally.If the stress is on, you must be able to relax.Have something nice to look forward to.

3.Exercise and eat sensibly get the natural seratonin happening , a good brisk walk 20 minutes per day helps.Getting physically tired helps you sleep better.

4.Avoid alcohol and illicit drugs – not only is it expensive and you may be broke,but is a major depressantand maks you feel worse.Cut alcool and drugs it right down if not eliminate i from your life completely. 

5. If you smoke, don’t. How much would you save if you quit? Let alone you may actually suffer with good health and live longer too, your family need you around and not to have to find money to pay your medical bills if you later on have to spend long periods in hospital for nursing struggling to breath or because of having a heart and vascular complications.

6. Avoid addictive sedatives – Xanax, Valium and any of the benzodiazepine group are often sought for anxiety control, however they can be addictive and are a depressant and can keep you more depressed as a result. Avoid them to strengthen your self worth,if you have overwhelming issues to discuss, talking it through with someone can often be the best way to deal with the stress.

7.Have a safety net plan in place, some people get so distressed that suicide seems a way out of the awful place you are in, remind your self it will not always be like this, who will miss you if you took your life? Won’t your kids, your mother, father, your lover be devastated if you died? Go see a church minister,use prayer,go see a community centre counsellor or Hospital casualty department or trusted friend tell them what is happening and seek their support.Let the waves pass – suicidal thoughts and self harm often come in waves,
so let the wave pass, dont act on it, call someone, defuse it.
Lastly on this point:  Never give up hope.

7.DON’T SNAP at your family enjoy them, they need your care and comfort and need to be uplifted through the circumstances you are going through.Don’t fight with each other , work together to support one another if times are tough.
