Safe Anxiety Meds During Pregnancy

3 March 2010 No Comment

Are any depression/anxiety pills safe to take during pregnancy?

Obviously I need to ask a doctor but I didn’t know if maybe someone had some personal knowledge/experience on this subject. By the way, I was taking paxil until I found out I was pregnant so I am not on any meds for depression/anxiety now.

I took paxil while I was pregnant with my last baby and I am going back to it with this one. It is a VERY safe drug to take while pregnant. My doctor says “it is just as important to have a healthy mom as a healthy baby.” Good luck. Take the meds. They will make your pregnancy better. Just inform your doctor that your on them and how much the dose is. They will just tell you that the only risk is difficulty breathing right after birth for the baby. Mine didn’t have any problems. She was 8 pounds and went home with me 2 days later. (I would have went home sooner but I had toxemia so I had to stay to be monitored.)
