Signs Anxiety Dogs
What are the signs of a dog being “too attached” to their owner? How much is too much?

I was wondering because I don’t want her to suffer from anxiety and all. I went to get my phone upstairs. She was sitting with me on the couch. She got up and looked at me like “omg don’t leave me!” then followed me like a shadow. She went upstairs and came back down with me. How do I know when she’s getting too attached and how do I make sure she isn’t getting separation anxiety?
^she was napping…
she does this a lot by the way

This is not a true sign of separation anxiety…it’s a sign that you are leader of the pack. When you are in a room of more than one dog unless they are old or very tired when one jumps up they usually all follow to see what’s up and make sure they aren’t going to miss out on anything.
Separation anxiety can be tested like this: When you are gone and someone comes to let your dog out or stays there with the dog does your dog stop eating, drinking, get diarrhea? These are signs…of which can be worked with by implementing a friend to come in every so often to make sure they can adjust to new situations. Make sure it’s not a stranger to her because that would not be a true test. Make sure it is someone she knows and feels comfortable with…trust wise.
I would like to commend you for the caution you have to make sure your dog is healthy in temperament. A lot of people are only aware of the physical signs of a dog…but making sure a dog is emotionally healthy is equally as important.
