-I fiddle with my hands when talking to people, and aviod eye contact as much as possible

- I never raise my hand, or read aloud in class

- I avoid talking to people

- Im never outside or hanging out with anyone, im locked in my room

- I dont participate in gym or anyother physical activitys for fear that i’ll do something wrong, or someone will criticise/make fun of me for it

All of that but on the net you are quite articulate. I would suggest that social anxiety wouldn’t fully cover it. I know you have heard this countless times but I think you need to talk to someone. Unless, of course, you are happy with the way you are? We all go through awkward periods in our lives but yours seems a little extreme. Maybe you are a natural introvert? OR, perhaps there is something else holding you back. Do some research find a professional and talk your head off. I wish you all the very best of luck for the future.

It’s possible, but I’d go see a counselor and get a professional opinion. There are ways with therapy to get past your fears and be more social. However, your counselor may also refer you to a psychiatrist who could prescribe medication to you that will help speed the process of breaking out of your anxiety.

It sounds like you do have some degree of anxiety issues, but that is not hugely unusual; many people have some degree of social anxiety at some point on their lives, and by “many people” I mean myself and several of my friends have experienced it. There are a lot of things that can be done to overcome social anxiety, from having positive experiences with friends to therapy. Your doctor will probably have some good suggestions. :)

I have social anxiety problems, too. I recently rented The Shyness and Social Anxiety Workbook. It basically takes you through the steps of behavior therapy that a professional would recommend. I found it very informative and helpful.
Yes, you’ll hear people say that everyone is shy, but your list suggests your anxiety is more intense than what is normal.
As I’ve gotten older, I have learned that the best way to overcome my social fears is to face them. Each time you try something that scares you, it gets easier. So, I’m a big believer in behavior therapy for this disorder rather than medication. Good luck.

Yes im sorry but you do have social anxiety. And trust me i have severe social anxiety and everything you listed are the symptoms. So when you go to the doctor, tell him you have this and see what he can do about it. Best of luck to you!
