Social Anxiety Support

Why do people believe black people don’t have social anxiety or see counselors?
Most people, not all, stereotype black people as always being loud and aggressive. That’s not true for everyone. People are individuals. Yes I grew up around black people who were this way, which made it difficult for me since I have social phobia. But I am living proof that black people can be socially anxious.
I have not met any black people who have admitted they were socially anxious, but I have met people who were white, asian, or other ethnicities who have. Even in the support groups online, I have not met ONE other black person who openly talks about it. I’ve asked a few times, and no one black ever responded.
I feel like the only black person suffering from this.
Another thing, why does the black community say black people don’t go to counselors? It’s bad enough I have social anxiety, being black and socially anxious makes it worse.
A lot of people (black or white) dont really know whats wrong with them if they have a social phobia, they just think their weird or something, until they one day (usually by accident) they come across an article or t.v show. So maybe the people you are referring to dont realise its a treatable illness and are just suffering in silence.Good luck with your treatment.
