Sports Anxiety Disorder

How do you get self esteem and self confidence?
I guess I just lost it as I grew older. ITs killing me. My posture is bend in the shoulders, I’m not good at sports. Just today I was in gym class (I’m 13) and everyone was playing basketball well accept for me. I just ….wish I could believe in myself again but I don’t know how. I’m not myself in public, I wish I were. at times im too shy to keep a conversation going or ill think they will judge me. this is killing me and I also have Social Anxiety Disorder.
It’s like I rely on other people to keep me happy. If I don’t have anyone to talk to, I get down. I am acool guy, once you get past me problems with self esteem/confidence and the social anxiety disorder.
In my own experience, what gave me self esteem was to start something, do it well and complete it. My first experience with that was college. I learned I was extremely smart and with some serious effort, got straight A’s. I was so proud of myself and really saw my value. Now if I do anything, I just do it the best I can. That way I can always be sure I did what I could. I also stopped looking to other people for approval. No matter how well you do, there will always be someone who wants to bring you down. You have to realize that no one’s opinion matters but your own.
Since you are still very young, I would join some after school groups or perhaps a drama class that might help you gain some confidence. You’re at an awkward time in your life and your hormones are a little nutty at your age. Things get better, I assure you. Hang in there, ok? *hug*
