I’m 15 years old and have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. What exercises can I do to feel relaxed and good? Now that school is over in a few days, I plan on exercising every day. What is a good website that show exercises for this king of problem? Also what are good breathing exercises?

actually physical activity of any kind will help, but you can help yourself even more with simple meditation. Spend ten minutes everyday meditating. It doesn’t take a lot of effort, just sit and focus on your breathing, slowly for ten minutes. Other thoughts will pop into your head while you do this, but just let them go and focus back on the movement of air in and out of your lungs….this trains the brain and creates new thought patterns and will eventually diminish your anxiety response.

one thing that really has helped me is yoga. enroll in a class if you can afford it–there are probably many summer sessions just starting up right now. i’ve learned simple breathing techniques that help me fall asleep without hours of lying awake and that i do in the car on my way to basically any social situation. nothing clears my head and helps me feel in control like it!!

    good luck!

a good way to releive this is to do the following: find aquiet spot, no distractions. sit comfortably, close your eyes, soetimes classical music helps…. get to a place in your mind that is peaceful by imaging it i your mind, let all thoughts come and go. don;t tyr to control them while doing this, concentrate on your breathing. from the stomach take slow even breaths, exhale slowly. Physical exercise, like running, yoga, slow movements. Don’t watch the news!

Anything that gets you out of the house, and maybe a little elevation in heart rate. I have suffered with GAD in the past. Lately I have been walking in the sunshine for an hour a day with good effect.

This, combined with my prescription medication and healthy diet all help me to manage my anxiety problems.

There are counsellors and therapists that may be able to help.

Anything to get your body moving. Jogging is a very simple, very effective exercise. It’s also the cheapest, since most effective exercises require machines. Try that, or, yoga, if you want a more relaxing approach. Good luck!

Breathing is probably the best way to treat your anxiety and one of the easiest ways to get started. I actually just finished publishing an article on my blog with some breathing exercise videos you can try out.

One is based in Yoga and another is based on QiGong. There is a third video that is a guided meditation sort. I put the link in my source box if you want to check out the article and videos. Hope this helps.
