What are some medications for people younger than 18 with Social Anxiety?

Inderal is good. The generic is propranolol.
well im 20 and ive had social anxiety disorder since i was 15 and when i was your age the doctor gave me clonazepam 1mg. Its worked for me and im still on it because i have a serious case of SAD and panic attacks. but yeah talk to your doc to see whats best for you in your situation
Relax… its not a medicine name ..personally i don’t like using medicine which can later become necessity …
the best thing u can do is meditation and yoga

Anxiety is a symptom of a problem, not the problem, It could be caused by a physical imbalance, Why not get to the problem, rather than looking for drugs to deaden your brain?
ALL mood-altering, mind-bending, thought interrupting drugs are dangerous, addictive and harmful.
Paxil is one of the drugs that can help, this drug comes in a time release formula and starts as low as 10m…..which is very low and it takes a few weeks to start working and it will work ,but you need to have patience….all the other drugs are to strong and Paxil is safe taken properly and there are no thoughts of suicide or murder……….luv kara
Medications used to treat social anxiety in adults (Paxil, Zoloft, etc.) unfortunately carry an FDA BLACK BOX WARNING for use in children and adolescents. They say they do cause suicide and homicidal thoughts.
Personally, the FDA is unlikely to issue this warning unless there is validity. Especially since anything involving drug companies profit becomes highly political.
Be very careful taking advice from Yahoo answers regarding taking these drugs. Invest some time in researching it. It could be your life you are talking about.
