Happy Coffee Friday. As most of us know there is a ton of pressure for teams to win their first regular season game. It is a way for teams to start things off with a bang. I have compiled some W/L stats for the following 5 teams….and now it is your turn to put your predictions on the line. What teams are going to win their 1st games?

Blues
2005-2006: L
2006-2007: L
2007-2008: L
2008-2009: W
1st Game is a Home game versus the Red Wings in Stockholm, SE

Lightning
2005-2006: W
2006-2007: W
2007-2008: W
2008-2009: L
1st Game is a Visitor game versus the Thrashers

Leafs
2005-2006: L
2006-2007: L
2007-2008: L
2008-2009: W
1st Game is a Home game versus the Bruins

Canucks
2005-2006: W
2006-2007: W
2007-2008: W
2008-2009: W
1st Game is a Visitor game versus the Flames

Capitals
2005-2006: W
2006-2007: L
2007-2008: W
2008-2009: L
1st Game is a Visitor game versus the bruins

Bonus Question: If I have a fear of heights, is it discrimination for an NHL team to not let me sit in the lower levels for my nosebleed budget?

And no, it’s not discrimination. Anyone could simply say they have a fear of heights if this worked, so there’s no way they would believe you or care enough to honour your comment.

BQ: They’d probably tell you to stay home. I’m afraid of midgets and carnies.

Blues- L But is it really a home game? Didn’t know Stockholm was that close to St. Louie. Let me check my atlas

Uh…. are the Leafs, Bruins, and Capitals having a three-way? I know Ovie likes to party, but really Homes………

BQ: Only with a signed doctor’s note specifically stating your affliction

no, if you’re actually serious about that question, the legal ramifications wouldn’t hold. how “high” is the top level. it’s all relative. you could argue that the whole city of Denver should get tax cuts for being above sea level. it all depends on your frame of reference. What if you made the stairwells more aesthetically pleasing so as to avert the eye from the true relative height? and on? and on? what if i had a fear of crowds of people? should they give me an entire section to myself? good question.

i owe you an email or two, by the way. sorry. things got away from me, and it’s been a crazy two weeks. family hospitalizations and the like. yay!

    1) Blues: I sure hope they don’t win…

    2) Lightning: Sorry Homes, took the Thrashers last time too.

    3) Leafs: Sorry Chris and thelau, goin with the Bruins. I think I voted for them before.

    4) Canucks: Not going to argue with history.

    5) Caps: Capitals =)

That would be a sin! But you should have no problem getting tickets in Tampa ;)

There is no fear in hockey. If heights are bothering you in the new arenas. You should have been to some of the old press boxes or gondolas. The grating walkway to the MLG press box and Gondola were real knee knockers.
