The meds you were trying may have not been the right ones for you. Keep under the care of your psychiatrist and try different meds. There will be one for you, don’t give up one medication that might work for one may not work for another.

Hello. I’m not a professional by any means, but I have just recently gotten over depression that lasted for over 4 years. My therapist recommended drugs, but I was determined to get through it by myself. It took me a while, but I can honestly tell you that you can get through it by yourself. For me, it was God who made me new. I don’t know how you feel about that, but if you aren’t ready to take that approach there are still other ways. I also had social anxiety along with my depression. It really starts with gaining self-confidence. You should try spending some time with yourself doing something that makes you happy. That sounds cliche, but it really helped me a lot. Once I started respecting myself and realizing that I didn’t need other people to make me happy, I started to realize that I was worth something. This self-confidence will help you with both your depression and your social anxiety

I actually read an article about this very thing this morning. The guy talks about different ways to get rid of your anxiety and shows you how he was actually able to get rid of the anxiety attacks. I suffer from anxiety attacks also and these techniques seem interesting.
