Would you agree with my view of religion?

Sluggo asked:
I see it as a band aid applied to the consciousness of a human once they become aware of their own mortality. It’s death’s shock absorber. What good would a religion be that didn’t address death with a positive affirmation? Who would blindly give up their life to a religion that told the truth about death and the natural world? The price of heaven is the sacrifice of reason.

There is a quote by Benjamin Franklin that I think applies to religion if you replace “liberty” with “reason”
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
I think mankind would liberate itself from the fear of death by accepting it and living accordingly. Who would waste their 1 chance at life on such small ideas when they knew the reality of the sacrifice?
I guess I see why religions thrive, but I think we’d be far better off to accept our world the way it actually works.
